In recognition of the fiscal crisis facing the Allegany County Board of Education- the Teachers Association for a second consecutive year chose not to take a previously negotiated 1% pay hike. The current three year contract expires June of 2013 and talks on a new deal should begin in the near future. Given the uncertainty of the economy- and the difficulty in projecting what the fiscal picture will look like three or four years down the road, School Board member Jeff Metz says that negotiating a series of one year deals may be the most reasonable course to pursue…
