Tentative Schedule Set for Sacred Heart Demolition

A specific date for the demolition of the former Sacred Heart Hospital has  not been determined, but officials reported this week that it may be after the first of the year.  The Allegany County Board of Education received an update on the project during this month’s regular meeting. Board officials say meetings will be held with neighbors surrounding the new high school prior to any demolition work beginning. The new Allegany, with an estimated cost of $30 to $40 million, is expected to open in time for the 2017-2018 school year.  Education officials recently visited two new schools in Towson and Aberdeen to see first-hand the design of modern schools.
