TGCC Sets “One Year Later” Addictions Event

On June 8, 2017, The Greater Cumberland Committee held a regional Addiction Symposium with more than 200 people in attendance.  Fast forward to the present, they are currently in the process of finalizing plans for the Addiction Symposium “One Year Later” event sponsored in partnership with Allegany College of Maryland, Frostburg State University, M & T Bank and CBIZ/Smyth & Pyles. 

This tri-state conversation and call to action will be held on Friday, June 8, 2018 at Frostburg State University’s Lane Center from 8am-12:30pm.

Featured speakers will include:  James Pyles, Security Director for Maryland’s Department of Health and Mental Hygiene and Retired Major Maryland State Police; Dr. Jeremy Herschler, West Virginia University Medicine; Lindsay Evensen, Western Maryland Health System; and Dr. Susan Sherman, Johns Hopkins University/The Bloomberg School of Public Health.  Following the morning’s presentations, breakout discussions will be conducted to identify best practices and shared resources, as well as review the status of last year’s short and long-term goals. 

This event is by invitation only and is being organized for the purpose of facilitating dialogue across all disciplines in the areas of treatment, prevention and enforcement of opioid usage.
