The Clorox Company finalizes deal on 100-job manufacturing facility in Eastern Panhandle

June 16th, 2020 by WCBC Radio

After successfully pitching West Virginia as the home for The Clorox Company’s newest manufacturing facility, Gov. Jim Justice today congratulated the company for securing approval from the Berkeley County Planning Commission to move forward with construction on the site, which will bring 100 jobs and $190 million in economic impact to the Eastern Panhandle.

“As soon as it came to me that Clorox was looking for a home for their new facility and the 100 new jobs that would come along with it, I told our people to jump all over it,” Gov. Justice said. “And on top of all the new jobs, this facility is going to give our economy in West Virginia a real boost, and so today should be a really proud day for all West Virginians.”

The facility, a state-of-the-art cat litter manufacturing plant, will be built in the Tabler Station business park just outside of Martinsburg.

Meanwhile, Allegany County economic development types tell us that factories are never coming back…

I wonder if Allegany County even tried for this. Or they knew better because this would never be allowed to be built in Maryland

Our fall back excuse is that we have no north/south interstate corridor. That excuse has worked for going on 4 decades.

Kevin: Besides making cat litter, Clorox is going to be making something for people like you to treat “Trump Derangement Syndrome”!

Well Pat, Kevin is not the one who said that consuming disinfectants or putting UV light inside your body was a good idea to fight Covid19. There have been a number of his dumb ass followers who have been rubbing these products on their skin or gargling with it. Trump doesn’t have have the sense to come out and tell the American people not to do this. He merely said he was being sarcastic, which he obviously wasn’t.

Jobs build an economy not spending millions trying to attract tourism by rebuilding Baltimore street or making a water park or fixing a steam engine. Economic development council cannot understand this

Seems like the workforce is tapped out. Current industry cannot fully staff.

This plant has been a known item for many months now.
At the time Allegany County suggested working in concert with Bedford County in Pa. along with Mineral County in WVa. to jointly showcase this area.
The locals weren’t brave enough to attempt a presentation of this County on their own.
Whether or not any of that took place I don’t know but WVA. is getting the 100 jobs. This was an opportunity that doesn’t come along very often.

After the plant is up and running we might be able to get some cat litter, cheap, to spread around the DDC and CEDC offices. Lord knows it’s needed.
