June 18th, 2016 by WCBC Radio

Thousands of customers remain without power in West Virginia a day after strong storms moved through the state.

FirstEnergy Corp. says about 12,900 customers remained in the dark Friday afternoon. Nearly 4,600 were in Monongalia County, about 3,300 were in Harrison County and 1,900 were in Lewis County.

The storms brought hail and downed trees across a wide area. National Weather Service forecaster Ray Martin in Sterling, Virginia, says a team is investigating a possible tornado near Berkeley Springs in the Eastern Panhandle.
