Threat Causes Tuesday Delay At Fort Hill & Washington Middle

January 23rd, 2018 by WCBC Radio

Allegany County Public Schools has announced a three hour delay for Tuesday at Fort Hill High School and Washington Middle School, due to a threatening message that was found at Fort Hill after dismissal on Monday.  That discovery led to the cancelation of all after school and evening activities at Fort Hill on Monday.

The following is the ACPS statement:

As a result of the threatening message discovered at Fort Hill High School Monday, Fort Hill High School and Washington Middle School students will be on a 3 HOUR DELAY today, Tuesday, January 23, 2018, so that law enforcement can have adequate time to scan and clear Fort Hill.

Washington Middle School is on the delay schedule due to shared transportation and not as a result of any threat to that building.

Eckart students from Fort Hill and Washington will NOT have school Tuesday. Career Center students should follow the 3 HOUR DELAY schedule, and transportation to the Career Center will be provided three hours late. Students in the Community Based Program and the Virtual Academic Village should follow a regular schedule.

Staff from Fort Hill and Washington Middle should report to Washington Middle School at the regular time. Once law enforcement has cleared Fort Hill High School, Fort Hill staff members may report to their building. Students arriving at Fort Hill Tuesday will enter the building through a controlled entrance at the front of the school as an extra precaution.

We appreciate everyone's patience and cooperation while this investigation concludes, as our first priority is always the safety of students and staff.
