Three Arrested On Burglary Charges

On June 4, 2017 at approximately 5:48 PM the Cumberland Police responded to a residence in the 300 block of Arch Street for a breaking and entering in progress.  When the first officer arrived he observed several subjects flee the residence.  A foot chase ensued and the officer was able to catch two of the subjects in an alley of the 200 block of Virginia Avenue.  The two subjects, identified as Tyon Oliver McCormick and Hadeem Erinne Smith, were identified by the officer as those who fled from the residence and they were placed under arrest.  A third person, Tifenie Earlene Broadwater, was located and identified as one of the subjects in the residence and she was also arrested.  During the investigation witnesses were interviewed and evidence was collected.  McCormick, Smith, and Broadwater were all charged with Burglary and related offenses.  They were taken before a District Court Commissioner where Broadwater was released on her personal recognizance pending trial in District Court.  McCormick was held on $5000 bond and was taken to the Allegany County Detention Center to await his next appearance in District Court.  Smith was also held on $5000 bond and was taken to the Allegany Detention Center to await his next appearance in District Court.  Police are continuing their investigation into the incident.

Tyon Oliver McCormick, age:  25, Baltimore, MD

Hadeem Erinne Smith, age:  22, Baltimore, MD

Charges:  Broadwater – 4th Degree Burglary

McCormick – 4th Degree Burglary, Destruction of Property, Disturbing the Peace Hindering Passage, Disorderly Conduct, Resisting Arrest, Fail to Obey a Reasonable and Lawful Order, and Obstructing and Hindering

Smith – 4th Degree Burglary, Destruction of Property, Disturbing the Peace Hindering Passage, Disorderly Conduct, Resisting Arrest, Fail to Obey a Reasonable and Lawful Order, and Obstructing and Hindering.
