Three Perish In Somerset County Fire

A team of investigators from the Office of the State Fire Marshal are continuing to work on determining the origin and cause for a dwelling fire that claimed three lives Saturday. 

The early morning blaze was called into the Somerset County Emergency Operations Center at 6:26 a.m.  Nearly 50 firefighters responded from Crisfield and multiple local volunteer fire departments and worked to bring the fire under control within 90 minutes after arrival at the scene. 

Three members of the family managed to escape the blaze, however one adult and two children perished during the fire.  The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner has transported the deceased to confirm identity and cause of death.

The structure is a 2 1/2 story wood frame, single family dwelling located at 2688 Johnson Creek Road in Crisfield, Somerset County.  Preliminary loss estimates to the structure and contents is $80,000.  No working smoke alarms have been located during the on-scene investigation.  Multiple family pets succumbed to injuries received during the fire.
