Tourists Flock to Deep Creek for Summer Relief

July 19th, 2020 by WCBC Radio

Another big tourism weekend at Deep Creek Lake, as reports had the lake surface near capacity with boating traffic on Saturday.

Locals are worried that the influx of visitors will cause a spike in Coronavirus cases among county residents.

As of this weekend, 31 locals had tested positive, with three quarters of that number this month alone.

I thought MD was under a mask wearing mandate? I was out driving around Friday evening. I went past 1812, Puccini’s, Lashbaugh’s, and Libby’s Ice Cream. Very few if any people wearing mask and not much social distancing and all of those places were pretty crowded.

Fear not, the maskless Trumpers will make sure the virus gets extremely bad here. Darwinism at work.

Until they mandate jail time for the offense social distancing and masks are not going to be used by many people. Everyone always thinks they are indestructible.
