Town Hall Meeting on Raising Taxes Seats More Than 100

A crowd of more than 100 packed the Fort Hill High School auditorium Wednesday evening as the Cumberland Mayor and City Council hosted a  town hall meeting on the possibility of real estate tax increases for city residents. Facing annual budget deficits, the city wants to engage the public on the possibilities for improving the city’s financial situation. The city is exploring a property tax increase or cutting of public safety services.
