Town Hall Meetings Being Held To Raise Awareness About Opioid Crisis

A series of town hall meetings are being held across the county in an effort to raise awareness about the heroin and opioid crisis that is continuing to grow in the region.  Allegany County Sheriff Craig Robertson along with members of the Allegany County Health Department Addiction and Recovery team to host the sessions- beginning last night at the LaVale Baptist Church. Another session will be held tonight at the Mount Savage Fire Hall from 6 to 8 p.m.  According to the latest data, at least 250 opioid-related overdoses have been recorded in the county since January 2016 with 35 fatalities.  Sheriff Robertson says battling the problem begins with identifying those pushing the drugs in the area- and that requires a team effort….
