Traffic Stop Leads to Arrest of Burglary Suspect

On 1/24/12, members of the Allegany county Sheriffs Office conducted a traffic stop the Lonaconing, Maryland area for a seat belt violation. During the course of the investigatin, the driver, Wade Eston Alt Age 21 Main Street Lonaconing, Md was determined to be driving on a suspended out of state license. Alt was placed under arrest. While processing Alt, it was determined that he was the suspect in a recent Burglary in the Barton, Maryland area. As a result, Dep D.K Simpson's investigation revealed that Alt had disabled the power to a residence in the Barton area and then broke into the residence and stole several items including cash and firearms. Alt was charged with Burglary first degree, Burglary 3rd degree, 2 counts of theft under $1000, and Tampering with electric/pole lines. Alt was held on $2500 for the traffic offense, and $25,000 for the Burglary charges.   Alt was transported to the Allegany County Detention center.
