Traffic Stop Leads To Firearm & Drug Charges

On June 9,2016 at approximately 10:50PM a Deputy of The Allegany County Sheriff’s Office was in the area of Rocky Gap on Interstate 68 when he observed a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed.

The Deputy conducted a traffic stop and the operator of the vehicle admitted to having a handgun in the vehicle. A probable cause search of the vehicle yielded a loaded .45 caliber pistol and a loaded 9mm pistol.  Numerous controlled medications without prescriptions were also located in the vehicle.

As a result, 54 year old Jerry Allen Ramsey of Wilmington Delaware was arrested and charged with the following:

Possession of Firearm During Drug Trafficking Use of Firearm During Commission of a Felony Did Engage in Drug Trafficking While Armed Did Wear and Carry a Handgun Did Carry a Handgun Upon Person Possession of CDS Not Marijuana Possession with Intent to Distribute

Due to having no criminal history, Ramsey was released on his own recognizance after an initial appearance with a District Court Commissioner.
