Traffic stop leads to gun arrest

On March 28, 2019, Deputies from the Allegany County Sheriff's Office initiated a traffic stop on Goethe Street in Cumberland for a traffic violation.  During the course of the traffic stop, probable cause was developed to conduct a search of the vehicle.  Upon attempting to search the vehicle a passenger of that vehicle identified as Robert Lee Dozier Jr. attempted to flee the scene on foot.  A brief chase ensued with Dozier.  During the foot chase Dozier assaulted one of the Deputies as he was being taken into custody.  A search of Dozier's person conducted at which time Deputies located and seized a fully loaded handgun which was concealed on Dozier's person. Dozier is currently awaiting a bail review at District Court on the following charges:

Charges:  Assault on Police;

 Felon in Possession of Firearm;

 Resisting Arrest;

 2 cts 2nd degree assault,

 illegal poss ammo, 

cds poss firearm, 

regulated firearm illegal possession, 

Firearm poss with felony convictioin, 

loaded handgun in vehicle,

 loaded handgun on person
