Updated: Train Derailment Reported In Bedford Co.

WCBC News has learned that Allegany Co. Emergency Units are assisting Bedford Co. on a train derailment in the area of Hogback Rd in Hyndman, Pa. Units from Ellerslie are on the scene with units from Corriganville and Hazmat Teams being alerted to the situation. WCBC News will have more information as it becomes available…

Updated 6:57a – WCBC News has learned that 4 blocks in Hyndman, Pa have been evacuated and that Hope for Hyndman Charter School is being used as shelter. The American Red Cross has been notified of the situation. As a result of the train derailment a garage is reportedly on fire along with at least three train cars. A total of six cars have been reported derailed.  No injuries have been reported at this time.

Updated: 8:17a – WCBC News has learned that one of the six train cars in the derailment was an LPG car and is venting flammable gas creating the risk of an explosion which is why residents within a 1/2 mile radius of the incident have been evaculated to Hope for Hyndman Charter School.
