Transportation Package Announced For Montgomery County

Maryland Governor Martin O'Malley announced this week a transportation package of nearly $650 million for Montgomery County. O'Malley and Lt. Gov. Anthony Brown also announced Maryland will pursue the state's first public-private partnership for transit to build the Purple Line. O'Malley also announced an added $400 million investment for the Purple Line project, which would be paid for with a combination of federal grants, private investment and state and local contributions. The governor said these and similar announcements across the state are just now becoming possible because of the tough decisions made by the his administration and approved by General Assembly- most notably a gas tax increase this year to help pay such  projects…
