Transportation Scoring System Under Fierce Scrutiny

In what is shaping up to be the most heated debate yet between Governor Larry Hogan and the democrat controlled general assembly- the so-called “transportation scoring system” is coming under fierce scrutiny with the governor looking for a repeal of the legislation.  Addressing state and county leaders from across the state last weekend, the republican governor blasted the scoring law enacted by the Democratic-controlled legislature this spring over his vehement objections. Hogan has taken to calling the program “road kill” saying that projects in 21 or the state’s 24 jurisdictions will not be funded under the current scoring system. Allegany County Commissioner Bill Valentine says that unfortunately Western Maryland is one area that will lose out with no transportation funding targeted for the region. He says the formula is rigged to favor Montgomery and Prince Georges Counties…
