With the completion of Baltimore Street and its ability to handle traffic, the traditional entrance of Santa Claus for the lighting of the Downtown Cumberland Christmas tree will be a little different.  Festivities for the event begin at 5pm this evening with music and entertainment. Downtown Development Commission Director Melinda Kelleher says there will be more room for people to enjoy Santa’s big entrance…

“The parade will start with Santa and Mrs. Claus and the parade this year is going to start at Baltimore – it’s going to go the whole length of Baltimore Street. So they’ll turn on to Baltimore Street from Mechanic and go all the way down Baltimore Street so people can line up all the way down Baltimore Street to see Santa and Mrs. Claus on the fire truck.”

WCBC Radio will Live stream tonight's Christmas tree illumination event beginning after 6:30 p.m. on Facebook. The tree lighting will take place around 7 p.m. followed by the arrival of Santa.
