Two Armed Robberies Overnite in Cumberland

In the late evening and early morning hours of January 19th and 20th, the Cumberland City Police along with Allegany Combined Criminal Investigative Unit (C3I) responded to the two separate armed robberies. At approximately 1030 pm on January 19th, the Cumberland City Police responded to the 7-11 convenient store on Maryland Avenue for a reported armed robbery.  At approximately 0350 am on January 20th, the Cumberland City Police responded to the Circle K on Oldtown Road for a reported armed robbery.

During both incidents a lone suspect entered the store, indicated he had a weapon, and demanded money. The suspect then fled the scene with an undisclosed amount of currency. Officers were on both scenes quickly and canvassed the area with the assistance of the Allegany County Sheriff’s Office. 

The suspect in the 7-11 robbery is described as a white male, approximately 6’0 tall, wearing a beige or gray hooded sweatshirt and dark pants, and covering his face with a black and white bandana.

No injuries were reported in either robbery. The suspect remains at large, and the Cumberland Police is seeking the public’s assistance.
