Two Candidate Names Surface as Possible Replacements for Foote

September 13th, 2019 by WCBC Radio

With an administrative law judge upholding the Allegany County Board of Education’s request to remove Wayne Foote for misconduct in office and willful neglect of duty- it appears it is only a matter of time before the action becomes official. If the Maryland Department of Education, as is expected, takes official action in the near future to remove  Foote from the local board- the governor will need to appoint an interim to fill the vacancy. Two names have already surfaced as possible candidates: former state and local board of education member Ed Root; and former county commissioner Bill Valentine. Root told WCBC News Thursday that he has not expressed an interest in filling any potential vacant seat on the board- but- if asked, he would consider it. Valentine on the other hand says he would definitely be interested. He added however that he is sad to see this how this scenario has played out for Foote…

As far as his possibly seeking an appointment to the school board, he would do so because the current board needs help…

Valentine will certainly keep the board of its downward trajectory. It’s what we do. Dig the hole deeper.

Another possible interim for the position and previously pointed to fill a vacancy on the BOE by Governor Hogan. That would be Nicholas Hadley.
