Two Charged With Disturbing The Peace Following Altercation

On Sunday, November 1st, 2015 Cumberland City Police Officers were on patrol in the area of Niner’s Canal Pub on Pershing Street when they observed a large disturbance in front of the establishment.  Several additional Cumberland City Police officers responded as well as Deputies from the Allegany County Sheriff’s Office to assist in getting the situation under control.  As officers began to contact several individuals that were involved in the disturbance, they learned that a fight had broken out in the bar and a patron had an injury to his eye as a result.   When officers attempted question individuals about the altercation, another fight broke out in the officers’ presence.  Officer separated the fighting individuals and they were placed under arrest.  Dakota Fender and Dustin Shadwell were removed from the area and taken to the Cumberland City Police station and charged with disturbance of the public peace.  Both Fender and Shadwell were issued criminal citations and released pending their court appearance with the Allegany County District Court. 

 

Several officers remained in the area of Niner’s Canal Pub until the large crowd dispersed.  No additional arrests were made.
