Two Cumberland residents were taken into custody Friday after a search of their Independence Street home revealed goods allegedly stolen from a Hyndman, Pa., residence earlier this week. Deputies from the Allegany County Sheriff’s Office executed a search warrant on the Independence Street location after developing information surrounding a burglary. The search revealed several firearms, numerous pieces of jewelry and electronics that were positively identified by the victims as being stolen from their residence in Hyndman, deputies said.

Arrested at the city location were Rick Franklin Imes and Ammie Elane McKenzie, both 44. They were charged with theft of goods over $1,000 and under $10,000, deputies said. The burglary had been reported to the Pennsylvania State Police. The victims said someone had entered their home in the early morning hours of Feb. 22 when it was unoccupied. In addition to the firearms, jewelery and other possessions, as well as an undisclosed amount of cash, were reportedly taken.

Following an initial district court appearance, McKenzie was ordered held on $5,000 bond and Imes was ordered held without bail.

Sheriff’s deputies were assisted at the scene of the search warrant by uniformed members of the Cumberland City Police Department as well as investigators from the C3I and C3I Narcotics units. The Pennsylvania State Police are continuing their investigation regarding the original burglary and additional charges are pending.
