On 10/30/16 at 1659 hrs., Deputies from the Allegany County Sheriffs office responded to the 52 mile marker on Interstate 68 East for a report of a motor vehicle accident with injuries.

Upon arrival, it was determined that weather and speed was a factor in the accident that involved a 2006 Subaru that had lost control and struck the guard rail causing a large break in the guard rail and proceeded through the guard rail and traveled over the embankment approximately 80 feet off the roadway. Debris was located all around the area. At this time, fire and ems personnel were on scene. The vehicle, a 2006 Subaru SUV bearing PA registration was observed on its side resting against a tree. The vehicle had been occupied by 2 females. One female had been ejected and the 2nd female was entrapped. Both patients involved were in critical condition. Both were transported to WMHS and later flown to Maryland Shock trauma. The occupants were identified as passenger Erica Maria Dejesus Age 23 and Operator Mariah Ashley Bocachica Age 24 both of Philadelphia Pa.

The Allegany County Sheriffs Office was assisted by Bedford Road, Lavale, Baltimore Pike, Flintstone and Cumberland Fire Departments. State Highway was contacted for the damage sustained to the guardrail.
