Two Cumberland Men Arrested After Multiple Thefts

July 6th, 2018 by WCBC Radio

At approximately 7:15 p.m., officers responded to a Park Street business for a report of a theft.  Officers arrived and learned that the suspects fled the area prior to their arrival.  Photos were reviewed from the store surveillance and obtained as evidence.  At approximately 8:36 p.m. officers received another theft complaint from a Maryland Avenue business.  Officers arrived at this location and found that the suspects had left prior to their arrival.  Officers again reviewed surveillance footage and found that the suspects from the Maryland Avenue incident were the same suspects from the previous theft on Park Street.  Approximately an hour later the Maryland Avenue business called reporting that the suspects from the earlier incident had returned wearing different clothing.  The suspects had left walking towards Park Street.  Officers located the suspects on Park Street and identified them from the footage they observed from both incidents.  Both subjects were taken into custody without incident.  The subjects were transported to Police Headquarters for processing.  Martin Lewis Stanbeck was issued two criminal citations and released.  The second subject who later identified as Christopher Michael Emerson first gave officers a false name.  Officers were able to identify Emerson after fingerprinting him at Police Headquarters.  Emerson was also found to have an outstanding warrant out of Hartford County, MD for failing to appear for a District Court case for an assault.  Emerson was later taken before the District Court Commissioner where he was held on a $3,000 bond on the local charges and held without bond on the Hartford County warrant.
