On Wednesday, January 23rd, 2019 the Cumberland Police Department responded to a S. Central Avenue residence for a breaking and entering complaint. When officers arrived, contact was made with the male caller who reported that when he came home, he found two unknown males sleeping in his bed. Officers located the males and identified them as Jeremy James Arnold and Michael Shawn Smith. Both Arnold and Smith were arrested and charged with 4th degree burglary. They were taken before the District Court Commissioner and Smith was released on his personal recognizance. Arnold was remanded to the Allegany County Detention Center held on a $2,000 bond.
