Maryland State Police are continuing their investigation into an apparent murder-suicide involving an estranged husband and wife in Allegany County yesterday afternoon.
The victim is identified as Christine M. Andrews, 44, of Cresaptown, Md. She was transported to the Western Maryland Regional Medical Center where she was later pronounced dead.
The suspect is identified as Todd C. Andrews, 47, of Cresaptown, Md. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Just before 2:30 p.m. yesterday, troopers from the Cumberland Barrack were dispatched to the 14000-block of Elton Drive, Cresaptown, for the report of a double shooting. When troopers arrived at the mobile home, they found a woman later identified as Christine Andrews in a bedroom suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. A man, later identified as Todd Andrews, was also found in the bedroom and appeared to have sustained a gunshot wound.
Troopers began immediate emergency care procedures and Cresaptown Volunteer Fire Department medics arrived and assumed treatment. Christine Andrews was taken the hospital. It was determined Todd Andrews was deceased at the scene.
Investigators from the Maryland State Police Homicide Unit responded to conduct the investigation. They obtained a search warrant for the residence and the scene was processed by Maryland State Police crime scene technicians. A handgun was found beside the body of Todd Andrews.
The preliminary investigation determined two of the couple's children and a friend arrived at the home as the shooting was occurring. They were not threatened or injured in the incident. Investigators learned Todd and Christine Andrews had recently separated. An initial check found no reports concerning domestic violence involving the couple.
Both bodies have been transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Baltimore for autopsies. The investigation is continuing.
