On Saturday, at 5:15 PM, Rroopers from the Hagerstown Barrack responded to E/B Interstate 70 at the 17 Mile Marker to investigate a vehicle collision.

Investigation revealed a Subaru Impreza driven by Monica Chang was traveling in the fast lane when a tractor trailer driven by Aziz Fayzullaev made an unsafe lane change from the slow lane striking the Subaru. The Subaru traveled off the roadway, into the median, and struck a tree.

The passenger in the Subaru, Paul Chiang, was flown to Shock Trauma by Maryland State Police Trooper 3. The driver of the Subaru was transported to Meritus Medical Center by ambulance. The driver of the tractor trailer was not injured. The roadway was shut down for approximately 30 minutes for Trooper 3 to land and transport to Shock Trauma.
