Two injured in Garrett County collision

The drivers of two vehicles that crashed Monday afternoon at Sand Flat Road and Maryland Highway were taken to Garrett Regional Medical Center for treatment of minor injuries, according to the Garrett County Sheriff's Office. The Cumberland Times News reports the accident occurred at about 3:20 p.m. when a 2002 Chevrolet SUV operated east on Maryland Highway by Tammy Sue Craver, 51, of Swanton struck a 2014 Dodge truck operated by Rodney Michael Carr, 46, of Accident. Carr was stopped on eastbound Maryland Highway and preparing to turn onto Sand Flat Road when his vehicle was struck by the Carver vehicle. Three children in Craver's vehicle were not injured. Police cited Craver for failing to control speed to avoid a collision. Southern Garrett Rescue Squad and Deer Park Volunteer Fire Department also responded to the scene.
