Two injured in morning accident at Queen City Drive railroad crossing

On Tuesday,  at 11:26 am the Cumberland Police Department and Cumberland Fire Department responded to the intersection of Queen City Drive and Baltimore Street for a report of a vehicle crash.  Upon arrival, officers discovered that a 2004 Hyundai being operated by Nancy Llewellyn, age 59 of Cumberland had been involved in a collision with a 2013 Jeep being operated by Jeffrey Johnson, age 46 of Cumberland.  A female passenger in the Hyundai was found to be injured and had to be extricated from the vehicle by the Cumberland Fire Department.  As a result of the crash three patients were transported to the hospital by the Cumberland Fire Department for treatment.  Also assisting with the investigation was a crash re-constructionist from the Allegany County Sheriff’s Office. 

The Queen City Drive and Baltimore Street intersection along with the train crossing was closed for approximately 2 hours. 

As a result of the investigation, the operator of the 2004 Hyundai, Nancy Llewellyn was found to be at fault for the crash.  She was subsequently charged with failure to yield the right of way and negligent driving.  Ms. Llewellyn was issued citations and released at the scene.
