On July 16, 2020, at 8:31 a.m., the Cumberland Police were dispatched to the 300 block of Williams Street for an armed robbery.  When officers arrived they learned that two subjects in a silver passenger car had robbed the victim and fled the area.  Officers learned from the victim, that while asleep a loud banging began outside the bedroom door.  The victim opened the door and discovered Jordon Shook, age 34, of Cumberland, Maryland in the residence holding a brick. Shook demanded the victim enter the dining room where he displayed knife and threatened the victim.  Shook then commanded the victim to give him the money that was in the residence.  Once the victim provided the money to Shook, he threatened the victim about alerting authorities and fled the scene.  Officers also spoke to a witness who observed Shook enter the silver passenger car operated by Matthew Gonzales, age 34 of Cumberland, Maryland, and flee the area. 

Officers investigating the incident immediately put out an attempt to locate for the silver passenger car to other Cumberland units and surrounding agencies. A Cumberland police officer observed the suspect car in the area of Queen City Drive and relayed that information to other units in the area.  A few minutes later an Allegany County Sheriff’s Deputy observed the vehicle and the suspects enter a business on Greene Street.  Several units responded to the business and Shook and Gonzales were taken into Custody without incident.  Also recovered at the scene was evidence related to the incident on Williams Street. 

Following their arrests, both Shook and Gonzales were provided their Initial Appearance hearings at District Court.  At the conclusion of the hearings, Shook was remanded to the Allegany County Detention Center without bond, and Gonzales was remanded on $5000 bond.
