Two Westernport residents arrested in Oakland incident

Two Oakland residents were arrested Sunday in a shoplifting incident after police discovered they were wanted on warrants in Allegany County. The Cumberland Times News reports the Garrett County Sheriff's Office arrested Krista E. Whiteman, 33, on charges of theft less than $100 and warrants charging her with alleged violations of probation.

Myles T. Tranum, 29, was charged with false statement to police, obstructing and hindering and a warrant charging him with failure to appear.

Both defendants remained jailed Monday at the Garrett County Jail, pending court appearances and extradition proceedings.

The arrests occurred during a shoplifting complaint at an Oakland business at about 1:15 p.m. police said.
