Unreleased Reports May Lead To Consolidated Economic Development Effort By Cumberland & Allegany Co.

Two reports that have not yet been released to the public may ultimately lead to a revamped, consolidated economic development effort on the part of Allegany County and the City of Cumberland. The county contracted with an Indianapolis based consulting firm last year to develop a long range strategic economic development plan- and in February the city and county announced the formation of a task force to study consolidation possibilities. The announced release dates for both reports have now passed- and speculation has centered on a possible combination of the Cumberland Economic Development Corporation- headed by Paul Kelly and Matt Miller- and the county’s economic development team.  The county department has been operating with a skeleton staff- with director Jeff Barclay absent with health issues.
