UPDATE: I-68 east remains closed

All lanes of I-68 eastbound, west of exit 42 are closed as a result of a multi-vehicle accident. “Citizens should avoid the area and use the appropriate detours,” Emergency Services Director James Pyles said. “The roadway is going to be closed for a considerable amount of time as crews remove the vehicles, one being a tractor trailer.”   Three patients were transported from the scene to Western Maryland Regional Medical Center in Cumberland.  Units from Cumberland Fire Department, LaVale Volunteer Fire Department, LaVale Rescue Squad, Cresaptown Ambulance, Allegany County Department of Emergency Services EMS Division and Special Operations.  This release will be updates.     This morning 68 west bound @ Maryland Ave Exit tractor trailer in left lane couldn’t have been doing speed limit.
