On Monday, May 13, 2019 at approx. 11:48 AM, the Cumberland Police Department along with the Cumberland Fire Department responded to Industrial Blvd. at Lamont Street for a motor vehicle collision with entrapment/injuries.
Investigation into the accident revealed that the operator of the at-fault vehicle, Paula Jean Elfrits, age 62, of Keyser, WV, pulled out from Lamont Street, intending to crossover W. Industrial Blvd. Elfritz crossed into the path of another vehicle which was traveling on W. Industrial Blvd.
As a result, the vehicle collided with Elfritz’s vehicle. This caused Elfritz’s vehicle to rollover and strike another vehicle which was stopped on E. Industrial Blvd. waiting to turn left onto Lamont Street
. The Cumberland Fire Department was able extract the trapped operator from one of the vehicles. Two subjects were transported to the Western Maryland Regional Medical Center for non life-threatening injuries. Elfritz was issued a traffic citation for failing to yield the right-of-way.
