On Thursday, January 14, 2021, the City of Cumberland water department will be replacing a 12" water valve on Virginia Avenue @ Potomac Street. The water will be shut off at 9:00 am and will be restored at 4:00 pm.
Every resident and business on the east side of Virginia Avenue from E. Offutt Street to Candoc Lane will be affected. Low pressure will be experienced for a short time after service had been restored. There will be several fire hydrants open throughout the neighborhood and could be open until Friday, January 15, 2021.
Virginia Avenue, from Mary Street to Roberts Street, will be closed to traffic on Thursday, January 14, 2021, from 7:00 am – 5:00 pm and local traffic will be detoured towards River Avenue to Roberts Street.
