Vacant Assistant Principal Positions Filled

Superintendent of Schools, Dr. David Cox, recently announced the appointments of several assistant principal positions for the upcoming 2016-2017 school year to fill vacancies from last year. At the secondary level, Kate Loughrie, former social studies teacher at Fort Hill, will serve as the Academic Dean at Mountain Ridge next year. Laura Holland, former English teacher at Fort Hill, and Shawn Swisher, former social studies teacher at Westmar, will serve as Assistant Principals at Braddock Middle School. Chris Cassell, former science teacher at Fort Hill, will serve as the Assistant Principal at Washington Middle.

               At the elementary level, Tessa Fairall, former AP at Washington, will relocate to South Penn as the Assistant Principal, and Shannon Imes, former AP at both George’s Creek and Westmar Middle, will move to West Side as the new Assistant Principal.

               Additionally, Jeff Avey, former AP at South Penn and Coordinator of Fine Arts, will serve as the new Assistant Principal at Westmar Middle while still maintaining his fine arts duties. Finally, Lisa Stevenson, Coordinator of Library Media and Acceleration and Enrichment, will serve next year as the Assistant Principal at George’s Creek while still maintaining her other administrative duties at the central office.

            New central office assignments include Wendy Main as the new Assistant Supervisor of Special Education, Steve Thompson as the new Assistant Supervisor of Mathematics, and Kristen MaBee as a staff accountant.
