Valentine Believe New DelFest Contract Will Be Reached Despite Conflicts

December 29th, 2016 by WCBC Radio

Allegany County Commissioner Bill Valentine says that while he has every confidence a new five year contract to continue DelFest at the fairgrounds will be signed in the near future-  there remain a few hurdles.  The contract became a point of controversy two weeks ago when Valentine announced at the regular business meeting of the commissioners that a deal was in place. The next day, DelFest business manager Stan Strictland appearing on WCBC’s  “Dave Norman Show” said that contract talks were ongoing and there were still some issues to be resolved. Valentine says those issues include an exclusivity agreement; guarentees that no stock car races would take place the week before the festival; and that no other activities near the fairgrounds would take place during the event. In addition the DelFest representatives are interested in assurances that there will be stability in place in terms of which individuals they deal with each year on the county level in preparation for the festival. Valentine says he believes all this matters can be resolved when the two sides meet again…
