Allegany County Commissioner Bill Valentine will meet with representatives from the group that now owns the Rocky Gap Lodge and Resort to discuss the future of the proposed slots operation at that site. The Evitts group stunned local and state officials last week when they abruptly announced plans for a scaled down version of a slots operation- including scrapping previously announced plans to build a 65 million dollar facility adjacent to the lodge. Under the new plan, just 500 machines would be in place- not the 850 that had been talked about originally. And with no new facility- the plan now is to locate the machines in the existing conference space at the hotel. Losing that conference space represents a major loss of revenue for the area- and it’s a subject that will be at the top of Valentine’s agenda when he meets with Evitts Wednesday afternoon….
