Van Hollen Statement on Christchurch, New Zealand Shooting

March 15th, 2019 by WCBC Radio

Today, U.S. Senator Chris Van Hollen (D-Md.) released the following statement regarding the shooting in Christchurch, New Zealand:

“It makes me sick to my stomach to think that we live in a world where 49 people, including several young children, can be shot to death while peacefully praying. The gruesome terrorist attack in New Zealand is not an isolated incident—the rise of Islamophobia and white supremacy must be met with strong determination to combat hate wherever it rears its ugly head. My heart goes out to New Zealand and the Muslim community during this difficult time.”

Yes, yes we all abhor what has happened but it’s just as easy for me to say that as you. Words are just that, words. What can be done other than the wringing of hands and kind words of condolence?
