On Friday,  at 2:10 p.m., Frostburg City Police responded to a motor vehicle crash on New Georges Creek Road at Village Parkway. Upon investigating at the scene, police learned that Roberto Joseph Anthony Sabatini, 32, of Warren, Ohio, had been traveling northbound on New Georges Creek road in a 2015 Jeep. Sabatini stopped and signaled an intention to turn left onto Bishop Murphy Drive. Timothy James Fetters, 31, of Cumberland, was traveling behind Sabatini in a 2011 Kia. As Sabatini indicated a left turn, Fetters traveled around the right side of Sabatini’s vehicle. Sabatini then turned right instead, resulting in a collision with Fetters’s vehicle. The Jeep ended up on the shoulder of the road, and the Kia in the adjacent grass area.
Upon investigating at the scene, police found Sabatini to have been driving while impaired/intoxicated, based on observations and information learned at the scene, as well as field sobriety tests.
Sabatini was placed under arrest and charged with negligent driving, failure to give appropriate signal to turn, and DWI/DUI offenses. Sabatini was cited and released pending trial.
Sabatini was determined to be at fault in the crash. No injuries were reported.
