May 1st, 2019 by WCBC Radio

A few weeks before the announcement that the Luke Mill will be closing- the Verso Corporation madea change at the top with the resignation of President and CEO Christopher DiSantis. Leslie Lederer, former chairman, interim president and CEO of Catalyst Paper Company, has been named as interim Chief Executive Officer in order to ensure a smooth transition until such time as a permanent CEO has been identified and retained. According to the Dayton Business Journal, the company said DiSantis’ decision to resign was not due to any disagreement with the paper manufacturer’s operations, policies or practices. Although the Luke Mill has struggled financially- the company reported annual sales of $2.7 billion last year. Despite the  closure of the Luke Mill, Verso will continue to operate six other mills in Maine, Michigan, Minnesota and Wisconsin.
