Veteran State Lawmaker Charged With Wire Fraud

April 7th, 2017 by WCBC Radio

WBAL reports longtime state legislator Nathaniel Oaks has been charged with wire fraud, the U.S. attorney’s office confirmed.

Oaks, a Baltimore Democrat, was a member of the House of Delegates from 1983 to 1989, when he forfeited his seats following a theft conviction. He double-billed $10,000 in travel and office expenses both to the state and to his campaign fund.

He was sent back to Annapolis in 1994, again as a delegate. In February, he was tapped to replace the retiring state Sen. Lisa Gladden.
