Violation of Probation Warrant Served

On 3/12/14, Deputies from the Allegany County Sheriff’s Office along with a C3I Fugitive Officer responded to 301 Vine St. in Westernport to attempt service of a Circuit Court Bench Warrant for Violation of Probation on James Richard Lease (28 years old, Westernport). While entering the residence, a female acquaintance, Brenda Stevenson 38 years old, Westernport), interfered with the Deputies attempted to hold the front door shut while LEASE fled and attempted to jump from a third floor landing but was stopped by a Deputy outside of the building. LEASE was pulled back into the residence by another Deputy who attempted place LEASE into custody however LEASE resisted and the Deputy was ultimately forced to use a taser to subdue LEASE. After being treated at the WMHS RMC, LEASE was transported to the Allegany County Detention Center where he is being held without bond pending an appearance in Circuit Court. Additional charges are pending on LEASE (digital image photograph attached). Brenda Stevenson was also arrested at the scene, charged with obstructing and hindering, transported to District Court for an initial appearance and was ultimately released on her personal recognizance.
