It may be the most frustrating- and most time consuming traffic intersection in the county- however studies have been conducted and some changes may be coming to change things for motorists traveling through Industrial Boulevard/Virginia Avenue area. George Small of the State Highway Administration made a presentation to the Cumberland Mayor and City Council this week and provided the findings of an an extensive study of the intersection- and he says that by far, the Virginia Avenue underpass creates the biggest problem. Various options were studied, which each given a letter grade ranking. Small said currently the operation is a “D”, but at least one of the plans could improve that to a “B”- or as he put it- a significant improvement.
