One of the many issues tackled by the candidates running for a seat on the Cumberland Mayor and City Council at a candidates forum this week was whether volunteers should be used in the paid Cumberland Fire Department to save money. Mayor Brian Grim noted that the possibility of supplementing the fire department with volunteers was something that was agreed upon in the recently completed contract talks with the union- however its not something he sees happening anytime soon:
