Washington Co. Woman Charged With Arson After Setting Car On Fire

Deputy State Fire Marshals have concluded their investigation of a vehicle fire in Hagerstown after serving a Criminal Summons on Diane D. Fulk (58) of Funkstown.  Deputy State Fire Marshals determined Fulk had set her own car on fire at the Park and Ride located at 10525 Sharpsburg Pike in Hagerstown on December 3rd at approximately 10:00 am .  It took 5 firefighters from the Funkstown and Hagerstown Fire Departments 10 minutes to control the blaze.  There were no reported injuries as a result of the fire however Fulk was taken to Meritus Medical Center for a medical evaluation.  The fire was reported by a passing motorist who observed smoke in the area of the Park and Ride.    

Deputy State Fire Marshals served Fulk, who has no fixed address, with a Criminal Summons on December 4th for setting fire to her 2008 Kia four door sedan.  As a result of the fire, a 2015 Chevrolet pick-up truck parked near Fulk’s vehicle was damaged by radiant heat.  Charges include Arson in the 2nd Degree and 2 counts of Malicious Destruction of Property.  Damage to Fulk’s vehicle were estimated to be $12,000.00 and damage to the Chevrolet truck were estimated to be $250.00.

The Maryland State Police assisted with the investigation.
