Washington County Buys Riot Gear

June 2nd, 2015 by WCBC Radio

The Hagerstown Herald-Mail is reporting that the Washington County Sheiff's Office has bought $68,000 in riot gear, mainly due to the recent unrest in Baltimore.

Like the City of Cumberland and Allegany County, Washington County sent officers to Baltimore to help during the riots that occurred in the wake of the Freddie Gray incident.

The money spent buys riot shields, gas masks, helmets and launchers for tear gas canisters.
