Water Main Break Limits Water in Cumberland and Ridgeley Areas

Several areas of the city as well as the town of Ridgeley were without or had limited water the past few days as crews worked to repair a 24-inch water main leak at Washington and Greene streets.  Service was returned to most homes by Thursday afternoon; however, the city only made a temporary repair. The plan, according to Cumberland City Administrator Jeff Rhodes is to have a permanent repair along with a new valve for that area within thirty days. The two step project will likely be completed within the same week, and should only cause short periods of a water shutdown…
