A WCI inmate is dead after a fight occurred Saturday in the prison's exercise yard. The victim, Herbert Mayes, 33, was one of seven inmates involved in the 1:20 PM brawl. The other six inmates remain unidentified but were taken into police custody.
The death is being investigated by the Maryland State Police Homicide Unit and the Maryland Department of Public Safety and Correctional Services.
