At approximately 10 a.m. on Friday, March, 28, 2014, students and staff at Westernport Elementary School were evacuated, using standard fire drill procedures, as a result of the fire alarm sounding. The Westernport Volunteer Fire Department, ACPS maintenance personnel, and the school’s safety officer responded. It was determined to be a faulty sensor inside the elevator shaft that caused the alarm to sound. The school has received the all-clear, and staff and students have been returned to the building.
